Lee Valley VeloPark

Photo Accreditation to the 6 Day Series.

The Lee Valley VeloPark is situated at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park near Stratford in London. Old Barn Audio have worked with the Lee Valley Group on many occasions and so were delighted to be involved in this next project.

The Velopark is an incredibly large Olympic cycling centre. As well as the main internal race track with spectator stands and large priority areas, it also includes an Olympic external BMX track, many offices, plant rooms, treatment rooms as well as specialist bike companies.

The 6 Day Series was due to start on 22 – 27 October 2019 and the sound system failed. This massive event was being streamed worldwide by the likes of BT and Eurosport and therefore needed an exceptional system.

The project

Old Barn Audio stripped out the existing audio system containing many amplifiers and controllers, which had failed.

They installed 6 x Symetrix controllers and 6 x 8 channel Powersoft Ottocanali amplifiers into 6 equipment racks governing all arena speakers, all indoor peripheral speakers as well as the outdoor BMX track.

Software was written, programmed and installed for a bespoke evacuation control system in reception. This was then linked to the fire panel but operable manually or automatically in the event an alarm point is hit or smoke detectors activated.

The entire system, included what was already in situe, was then tuned and delayed.

Old Barn Audio installed remote access control, so the audio system performance and status can be viewed from our very own phones or offices, when required.

This 7000 seated venue relies solely on the audio system for its evacuation procedure. There are no fire alarm sounders or lights in the arena. All was successfully rectified in time for the 6 Day Series to take place.
