YMCA in Maidstone

The YMCA in Maidstone got in touch with Old Barn Audio as they required a new sound system for their leisure centre. Getting busier and busier for many sporting  and leisure activities meant they needed a far more effective sound system. A system that would be able to cope with all aspects of the busy activity centre.

There is actually a lot of history behind this centre. Information originally traced back to 1855 when the original Maidstone Church of England Young Men’s Society was formed. It became solely a YMCA in 1972, but faced with a lack of funds, it closed in 2002. However the venue reopened in 2011 as a new leisure centre on the original site in Loose.

Community activity centres such as this rely a lot on funding as well as memberships and hire bookings. People and clubs will always go elsewhere if systems and venues are not effective. So we were really pleased to be involved in further regeneration of this busy venue.

The installation

In total, we installed:

• 2 x OHM BRT6 loudspeakers plus wall brackets
• 1 x OHM 118 sub woofer
• 1 x Denon audio mixer
• Multi media player
• 2 x Crown XLS1002 amplifiers
• 1 x 9u wall mounted cabinet
