Lighting Infrastructure:

Lighting Systems For TheatresRecent advances in theatrical lighting over the past few years have completely changed the needs of the venue when it comes to infrastructure. Gone are the days of 15 amp patch panels and DMX only tie lines. Instead hard power and various data connections need to be widely available and configurable to suit the production.

Lighting Systems For TheatresOur systems are tailor designed to the venue itself and the type of equipment that will be connected. Modern panels typically contain 16 amp circuit connections back to the dimmers, hard power outs (if the dimmers do not have through power). And both RJ45 and XLR DMX outputs. Our patch panels can be configured to any size and configuration. This makes them ideal for fly floors or FOH applications. We can also install the panels to existing truss or bars or supply new pre fabricated systems.

When installing a complete lighting systems for theatres infrastructure system, neatness, order and functionality are key. Typically we will install the racks at the location of the stage mains incomer. A high end dimmer such an ETC sensor rack is important in a venue with high usage. The sensor rack is also great as it has the option for through power. This means that any of your dimming points can be used as hard power for intelligent and moving lights. For a receiving house, this will be the preferred option, as usage will change weekly. With the sensor racks we will have a patch rack allowing you to patch in the relevant RJ45 and DMX tie lines from around the building. We often use a combination of ETC Net 3 gateway and splitters/switches depending on the amount of points.

Lighting Fixtures

If a theatre or venue is simply looking to update their existing stock, we can also help with this. The specification of equipment for lighting systems for theatres will largely depend on the theatre itself and the usage. But below are a few of our favourite theatrical use fixtures:

ETC Source 4 Lustr

Lighting Systems For TheatresETC’s x7 Colour System™ combines a balanced recipe of up to seven colours to create evocative colour mixes. The Source Four LED Series 2 Lustr array takes the idea even further, with the addition of a lime-green LED emitter. Lime green increases the luminaire’s lumen output in open white and lighter tints.  Making them brighter and livelier, better matching the colour of a conventional Source Four fixture. The lime also enriches colour-rendering by better marrying the red and blue ends of the colour spectrum. For truer-to-life light that fills in the gaps that ordinary LEDs leave behind.

ETC Source 4 LED Fresnel

Lighting Systems For TheatresThe Source Four LED Fresnel is like no Fresnel you’ve seen before. The adapter fits any Source Four LED light engine and creates tuneable-white or brightly-coloured washes with soft edges. The light blends evenly. With smooth overlap and uniform distribution – for washes that look dazzling, even on camera! The Fresnel adapter is adept at sculpting light. Using traditional barn-door technology and attachments, to customize the look and shape of the light. And with the highest-quality light output, the Source Four LED Fresnel can be used in any application – on stage or in the studio.

Selador Desire

Lighting Systems For TheatresThe D60 fixture is the brightest variant in the Desire™ LED luminaire family. Sixty energy-saving LED emitters are combined onto each D60 fixture to provide powerful, high-intensity output. This round, PAR-shaped washlight is ideal for the stage, studio and anywhere brightness and colour flexibility are required.
